Committed to Preserving Your Tax Dollars
As La Porte County Superior Court #3 Judge, Greg Hofer will be committed to making changes to the court system that will make it operate more cost efficiently. Greg understands that by unifying the courts the system will not only operate more efficiently in getting cases to and through the courts, but save the citizens of La Porte County hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Just one example would be the implementation of one criminal court in Michigan City and one criminal court in La Porte. All criminal cases would be assigned to those courts. The county would save money in a variety of ways, including transportation costs for criminal defendants.
Because the jail is linked by video to the courts, incarcerated defendants my appear for many hearings through the use of video. Less cost for transportation of defendants and fewer guards needed for the transportation of defendants are but two of the cost-savings areas that court unification would accomplish.
By placing the responsibility for all criminal cases in two courts instead of five, three court systems will be open to administer the civil cases filed in the county. Those court systems will divide the cases. Unification of the courts promotes efficiency and cost savings. And as important, it builds a strong judiciary.
As a Judge, Greg Hofer will work diligently to accomplish these cost savings for the citizens of La Porte County.
